As I said before, there wasn't enough chile heat in the chili so I served the usual hot sauces with it. Since there was chipotle in the chili, I decided to stick with that and put a chipotle sauce in mine. Steve, OTOH, decided to try Jim's Red Savina Garlic Sauce. Well...first he only put 3 drops in. He tasted it and said it needed more, that he didn't taste it. So, he added more. Tasted decided it needed a bit more...added 3 more drops. Well... he ate a bite and said it was hot but not too hot, then as he ate it, the heat built up. He wasn't complaining, seemed to be enjoying it, and then he finished the whole bowl (with red onion, scallion, tomato and sour cream toppings). He did not want more but he said that he did like it. Then he sat down to play on the computer and said that his nose was actually burning. He said that it had never happened before. I told him that it was the first time he was experiencing the red savina chile. He said he wasn't sure if he was going to add the same amount the next time but it was an interesting experiment! My hubby is no longer a moderate chile-head. He has entered the "Red Savina Zone". Yeah... Doesn't mean it will last though. I am sure I'll be hearing "this is too hot, Risa" next time I try adding more than 1 chile to a dish. But for tonight...he has. RisaG __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo!
