I've grown Fataliis (from seed Alexandra gave me a few years ago) and
Devil's Tongue at the same time. The Fataliis were slightly bigger.
Otherwise in flavor and heat they were similar enough to select the
Fataliis for size alone. Nice, crisp, fruity chinense flavor with good
heat.

They did not compare with Datils I picked at Open Fields 2000-the Datils
were tasty and deep purple, fleshier. Not as hot. After checking Graeme
C's site
http://www.g6csy.net/chile/index.html and www.chileplants.com the Datils
at OF may have been a different variant or I'm mistaken--I recall them
as almost globular, firm and not wrinkled. The pictures at both sites
look like the Fataliis and DTs I've grown.

The Fataliis and Devil's Tongues were grown alongside Red Savinas and
Chocolate Habaneros--the Chocs were the hands down hottest. Hottest
chiles I've had. I'm out of Fatalii seed, didn't get them from Cross
Country because I ordered them from Chilewoman, who ran out! So no
Fataliis this year. Very unfortunate.

One new, very tasty chile that we've been using green is the
huasteco--good heat and great flavor and aroma. A serrano variety but
thicker with a greater, more complex flavor. A keeper.

Mine were lemon yellow.

PS Sorry to have missed the SoCal Hotluck! We couldn't make it the
original date, 7/31, and the final conflicted with Mary's mother's
visit. :-( We'll try next year!
