Well, OK...gotta kick in here, having raised seven kids! Sorry, but we
are of the "spare the rod and spoil the child" persuasion. Now,in saying
that, I must also say that we never ever did damage to any of our kids
nor would we ever have done. We did spank them when the need arose, but
however we did so with love, not with anger. Having read, many, many
years ago, what the nuns did to the native girls in Yucatan if they
dared to get pregnant, I would have to agree that some forms of
punishment are more in the nature of revenge, rather than education.
I still believe that the theory today of never using discipline on a
child, is one of the reasons why we have such a high juvenile crime rate
if for no other reason, than go ahead and do it, nobody will dare
correct you! Just an old guys 2 cents worth. Oh yeah....all of our 6
remaining children love us dearly! Cheers, old Doug in BC
