Hi Tom, normally when you use a food processing instrument, special made for
food processing it is not allowed for manufactores to use toxic materials or
materials which can get contamitated by fungus etc... Here in The
Nteherlands it's very strikt controlled by the govenment and  I think in the
US its called the F&D administration?.
In you case about the gasket, I would absolutely not be worried... its not a
complete tire you ground in there so probably you will never notice it
during usage of the powder.... or may be it will leave some 'burned rubber'
marks in the pot the day after ;-)
