Habaneros raced in a Grade II stakes at Prairie Downs in Altoona Iowa today. The race ended in a 4 horse blanket finish which means that you could throw a blanket over all 4 horses. This is the Equibase call: "HABANEROS settled off the early leaders racing three deep on the first turn, tracked the pacesetters to the stretch, angled out a bit entering the lane, split horses a sixteenth out and loomed a bold threat outside rivals, went willingly to the wire." I thought he did a pretty good job with the jockey moving him all over the track for a not very good ride. I had him losing by a nose, a nose, a nose, and a neck. He earned $15,000 for fourth place which at least paid for his transportation. I expect that his next start will be at Del Mar north of San Diego CA. Since he is a gelding he does not have a future at stud and will probably run until something breaks. Dave TLCC www.tough-love.com
