This week I was at a local farmer's market and they had a box of "Mexican peppers" at the register. They were Fatalis, but the clerk did not recognize the name. They were green and withered, with two or three turning yellow. I said, I love the way these squeak in your hand when they're fresh! She looked at me oddly. They had a sign advising customers to handle them by the stems because they were so hot. It seemed strange that they would combine the warning with the apparent invitation to investigate, since they were at the register where all customers pass. I was there for the local green map project, anyone else have that going in their town? - A
