This is an update on my "Inadvertent Chile Plants" Last July I described how, from the remains of the 2004 dead plants in the flower boxes which lay prone to snows of last winter, how I was amazed to find dozens of chile plants thriving, as the Phenox arising from the ashes. Note, that my objective last year was to provide my deck with some decoration, viewable from the kitchen window, and planted in window flower boxes. Appearantly, with zero assistance from me, the some unharvested pods fell to the soil, rotted, and released seeds, which then grew all on their own. Over the years, I have observed many emails on this list concerning all the misfortunes befalling would be chile plant production. With these plants: No fungus; no flying white thingies; no squirrels, cats, deer, etc; no spiders; no mysterious wilting, rotting or malease. Joanne has taken some pity on them, and occasionally waters them. Some photos are at: http://abarnhart.com/icp If my gray cells are functioning properly, I believe I got from Cross Country Nurseries, were were Peruvian Purples, Thai Hot Ornamentals, and, what are now, miniature serranos. These are about 5 weeks behind those of last year. I might even save some seeds and plant them next spring -- who knows. AndyB
