Tom, this is phenomenal photography and journalism. Thank you. No,
I didn't send it to you.

"It is never too late to stop believing."

And I noticed a certain kind of "Christian fear" behind all of this,
however. I am BCCing this reply to scores of people, and you should
send it to Forteana. Everybody should look at this, whether you've
ever been to New Orleans or not. It is "before" and "after" type
stuff. No, I have never seen the Quarter this deserted before
either. Despite all the boarding up of windows, etc., these are
magnificent photos to have been preserved of this historic and
beautiful city. What a tragedy! It is far worse today than when
this slide show ended, with the "Welcome To Texas" highway sign.

Viewing all of this can take an hour or more, as there are 197 photos
with captions, which you can pause if you like. Everybody, just pour
yourself a glass of wine and sit back and "try" to relax. Now that
we know what eventually occurred, this slide show is suspenseful, to
say the least. I myself have seen all of these streets and buildings
many times.

"I saw the city changing ... "

"Well, Venice meet New Orleans ... Canal Street was finally living up
to its name."

Mesmerizing! I hope that George W and Laura have time to look at
this. I am CCing this message to the White House, FWIW. Nothing
probably. R.
