I have to jump in and learn more about NM, as my son, DIL and family live in
Alamogordo. Of course what brought him there was his career in the Air
Force but when he retired a year ago, they decided to stay because of the
weather, friendly people and his work with the DOD at White Sands. We've
been there twice to visit them and all of us (four adults, three kids) are
spending Christmas Week in Santa Fe this year. I like what I've seen of NM
but, as someone mentioned, it sure does have pockets of poverty living right
alongside those who are much more blessed financially. Here in the
beautiful Midwest we have much the same thing but it's hidden by corn fields
;^). Anyway, I'm looking foward to NM food while I'm there and I will be in
the company of a whole bunch of moderates!
