All,
I thought that I would share this NYC moment with you all...
I manage the A&P (anatomy and physiology) lab at LaGuardia Community College (a part of the CUNY system of city owned colleges) here in Queens and we had our first annual lab "Holiday and End-of-the term Party" (we can't say "Christmas" due to the PC restrictions on mixing the secular and the holy while working for a government--owned entity) for the more diligent and attentive students, my tutoring staff, and the faculty that run my grant-based program. What a wonderfully "warm" and "chiliful" party we had in face of the sub-zero weather that we are experiencing here in New York.
  The Menu...
Indian vegetarian Tikka Rice with tofu, carrots, and green beans--well traditionally spiced
Bajan (Barbadan) rice and "beans" (peas) and peppers
Caribbean Curry Goat--as opposed to the East Indian variety--delightfully warm
Jamaican Oxtails in a delightfully caliente sauce
A Chilean version of baked ziti spiked with ajis
My contribution, chicken enchiladas ala mole poblano con serranos y habaneros (Yeah, I know that I'm Swiss
and Appalachian. but I like my ajis)
Greek Spinakopita (cheese and spinach pie)
And, of course, chocolate cannolis, egyptian baklava, and "good old American" apple pie for dessert.
I love my students and staff!
What a feast to "warm" your heart , your stomach, and your soul in face of our current weather here in "The City!
I love Queens--So many immigrants So many ajis, and so many Recipes...
