All,
Just delurking for a moment to date myself and to chime in on this issue!
When I first subscribed to this list back in antiquity (the ninety's), I was accessing the internet via an Atari Mega ST4--no IE or Netscape for that machine! Just straight old school UNIX shell access (lynx and pine). G-d, I miss those days! Strictly termial emulation mode. Just a black screen with white text! I had to write my own drivers!
I agree that times have changed since then, and for the better.

To keep this topical, tonight's dinner was an improvised Cuban Quinbobo stew consisting accompanied with Cuban Black beans and rice of:
A home-made Sofrito
Onion
Garlic
Plum Tomatos
Eucadoran Chorizo
Malanga blanca
Yucca
Homony
Serranos y Habeneros
Okra as a thickening agent.

It was delicious served with maduras--plantanos!
