One important thing -- you can olny dig horseradish in months that have an 'r' in them. Yeah -- the old Germans from Russia like the horseradish -- but can't take chiles. To those of you that sent the recipes/tips for the jalapeno pickles, thanks -- I experimented with two pints. Put two grape leaves and one-eighth teaspoon alum in each pint. Did the up-side down pasteurizing thing for 5 minutes -- bot jars sealed. Had them barely done when the tornado siren went off - no damage but we finally had 2.25 inches of rain. (5 cm for the metric folks) Sure is naice to see the list active again.
