I have about 100 sq ft: 3 x 15 partly/mostly shaded, 5 x 11 mostly/comepletely unshaded raised beds.

Between the two I fit 6 - 80 peppers and save the shadiest part of the small bed for herbs.

I save seeds from interesting varieties I come across at OF and from anything unusual that crops up.  I dry them on paper plates (removed from pods first) and bag them... or don't, pretty lazy about it, really.  Anything that is recalcitrant come germination time gets an overnight bath in a KNO3 solution (1 teaspoon per gallon water).
