Our church did an Iron Chef cookoff between two teams. Team One was made up of a caterer from our church, one of his helpers and a trained pastry chef. Team Two was a 20 year old guy from church with one semester at culinary school, and my wife and I (home cooks). The secret ingredient was root vegetables and could be beets, potatos, sweet potatoes, turnips, rutabagas, parsnips and carrots. There were 6 judges who judged 4 dishes each with a 30 point score for each dish. We came in second, the other team was next to last. Score was 414 to 400.

I was wearing my chile pepper chef pants! Team one is the "stuffy" looking bunch in chef jackets, our team is in chef pants and t-shirts. They we known as "team pro" and we were "team upstart". We are the ones that had fun.
