Stir away, Rael, I agree with you. As for being given credit for the Discovery of the pepper, I believe that is just Dr. Bosland's doing. To my understanding the Guinness record is awarded to the pepper and to Dave DeWitt's credit, he is according the credit for that to The Indians who are marketing the pepper to the world. That said. I find this particular scientist's arrogance absolutely disturbing. His site even links to a page that cites the pepper as scoring higher even that the score his little (it is impossible for this plant to exist, the Indians and Japanese must be perpetrating a hoax) pepper received. I wrote a little blog on it for the hot Zone Online... The feedback has been VERY interesting: http://www.thehotzoneonline.com/2007/02/18/the-guinness-book-of-world-records-if-you-squint/ T --- Rael64 <z42dkm@yahoo.com> wrote: > /begin misanthropic rant > > Not to stir up a thread that seems to have died off > (me?!), but I finally saw/read an article (yahoo > news) > about the infamous Bhut Johlokia/"ghost pepper;" the > article was actually focusing on the Indian woman > who's trying to get a Brit. visa to set a world's > record for eating the most of these wicked peppers > (apparently, she's already downed 60 of them in 2 > minutes, documented by Indian tv).
