I stopped at 5 Brothers Hamburgers in Dona Ana for a Chile Cheeseburger yesterday and overheard a chile conversation. They were taling about Scoville Units and the article in the Las Cruces Sun Times yesterday. One of the people had some chiles which he was offering to people. I went over, took a look, and said "That looks like a Peter Pepper." He said, you're right, have a bite." I took a chunk, chewed and swallowed it, amazing them all. It was green, and not yet tasty, but it had some heat. Spent the next half hour trying to devour my Chile Cheesburger and talk chiles. Turns out the guy with the Peter Peppers only lives a couple of miles south. They're all retired from NASA or White Sands Missle Range. Chile roasting started today at Joe Lujans Farm about 3 miles south. Looks like a good crop this year. Dave TLCC Living lots of Chilehead dreams in Chile Country!!!
