It's  only  about  10  miles,  with  nothing in between  but  8  stop  signs/lights. 

FWIW  I  learned  the  hard way,  this  old  bod  just  can't  keep  up  with  the  kids  anymore.  I  head  back  and  have  Din  at  the  hotel  or  nearby,  I  don't  stay  up  and  go sailing  with  the  Bensons  at  midnight   :-P .

Next year I hope to find a better place to stay.  The drive from Franklin to 
OF is a nightmare for an oldster like me with night blindness and problems 
with depth perception.  No HBO or any good tv to watch at the motel complex 
I stayed at and no DVD player either.  And certainly not the dreaded Fox 
News Channel.  I really need time at the end of the day to unlax and watch 
tv or read something.

Hope that SandyO and RisaG will be there too.
