[CH] I was in a pepper eating contest

Last Friday our office celebrated Cinco de Mayo with a party, part of which was a pepper eating contest. This is the first time I've done anything like this and it will probably be the last.
There were four of us, and two bailed out before finishing their first jalapeno. So it was me and last year's champion, through two jalapenos and two serranos, then two red habs.
As you can imagine, we were looking a bit red and puffy by then... so then they pulled out the secret super-hot pepper. They said they were bhut jolokia but I suspect they were really fatalis. Anyway they had been dried and reconstituted, so they neither tasted good nor had a nice crisp texture. We each ate one, talked about calling it a draw, then he ate another so I ate another. The crowd loved it. Then he popped one more and I gave him the win.
Afterwards I was wondering whether it would be a better idea to hurl, but I didn't. But my lips were twitching involuntarily.
...and then the next day... A small, fast-moving reconnoisance group moved through in the morning, and the main force attacked in the middle of the day. This morning a small rear-guard action completed the battle.
