In Canada, even the burger joints have pulled tomatoes. But they tell us
that tomatoes still on the vine, (sold as that in stores), cherry tomatoes
and grape tomatoes are still safe. And of course, ones you grow yourself,
but that will be awhile yet.

Subject: [CH] (OT) tomato/salmonella update
I already post too much (IMHO) off-topic stuff, so I'll limit this to a
link and a brief comment.....
Link: http://www.fda.gov/oc/opacom/hottopics/tomatoes.html
Short summary: the original FDA warning is now nationwide, and
includes products like salsa MADE FROM fresh tomatoes (duh...but it is
good to remind us, anyways). The link above includes a list of states
that have NOT had any reported outbreaks (yet).
Raw tomatoes are lethal to me (pollen allergies...long story---for those
who know what it is: Oral Allergy Syndrome), so it doesn't matter to me
either way...but I know it does to lots of folks I know, so....
