You know, one thing not considered is that by having such unfriendly subscription instructions, we sure seem to have little, if any, problems with spammers, bots, trolls, 12 year olds, and those folks who simply want to argue over the spelling of 'chile' (my answer is: who gives phuck?). Granted, word-of-mouth is not a really efficient way to get a list full of folks, but on the other hand, a list full of folks is not always a Good Thing (cynical, misanthrope that I may be). So, like, what seems clear, what seems best, may not be so.
