Something I discovered on my first few trips as a chilehead out west- the 
name "pequin" or "piquin" was attached to no less than about a dozen 
completely different looking chiles depending on the region.  What the folks 
at the flea markets in NM called pequin bore no resemblance to what the 
Texans called pequin which bore no resemblance to what I knew as pequin, 
which....

Pequin must translate to 'bird pepper' ;-)
