Hi Helen...A FoodSaver is the best appliance for freezing that you'll find.
Mine is model V1205 with the instant seal, the appliance hose attachment and
the hands-free operation (after it gets started you don't have to keep
presssing down on the lid). Vacuum sealing with keep things for many months
with no freezer burn...meats are just like fresh when thawed.

I freeze veggies, meats, cooked food etc. The only thing to remember is not
to get liquid into the sealer. So, if I freeze things such as individual
pieces of lasagna with sauce, I cut it, freeze it first on a cookie sheet,
then vacuum seal the frozen pieces. For tomato sauce, I freeze it in
plastic containers, pop them out and vacuum seal them. With fresh meats, I
sometimes put them inside a zip-lock bag, squeeze out all the air and seal
it, then vacuum the meat and bag in the FoodSaver bag.

It's a great help with peppers and other veggies; just blanch or not
according to what the veggie is (peppers get frozen raw) and then dry them
and seal.

Okay...you get the picture and the fact that I LOVE my FoodSaver and keep it
right on the counter so it gets used a lot! I also seal things such as
coffee beans, rice etc. for longer shelf life.
