Hey I was laughing, Jim, I knew all of you guys would know the difference. The story even said he wasn't used to eating this way. so he wouldn't know he had an allergy or to carry an epi-pen. ----- Original Message ----- From: jim To: George ; Chile-Heads Sent: Monday, September 29, 2008 12:36 PM Subject: Re: [CH] Killed by "too hot chili"?? More typical ignorance from the press!! He died from a food allergy, NOT from it being 'too hot'. If he was allergic to chiles, even a mild one would have killed him (via anaphylaxis) but then that doesn't sound as sensational. It wasn't the fact that it was 'hot' that killed him, it was that he was allergic. The itching is an absolute sign of anaphylactic shock. It's a shame he died because this is something that is very easily reveresed when caught at the onset. Could just as easily from that story, change the headline to "man dies after girlfriend scratches his back". It'd make about as much sense as the headline they did use. -Jim C http://www.StepUpForCharity.org Mild to Wild(R)
