Of course I wouldn't spray the cats with chile... My comment was made in the context of the discussion about using topical pepper sprays to deter pests from eating plants, and was a response to a specific reference to deer eating chile-fied foliage.
That's not to say we don't use judiciously-aimed spray bottles to modify feline behavior, particularly scratching, but no chiles are involved there.

Why? It sounds as if he is spraying the leaves of the plants with the
solution, thus deterring the cats from chewing on it. What did you get from
