Of course I wouldn't spray the cats with chile... My comment was made in the context of the discussion about using topical pepper sprays to deter pests from eating plants, and was a response to a specific reference to deer eating chile-fied foliage. That's not to say we don't use judiciously-aimed spray bottles to modify feline behavior, particularly scratching, but no chiles are involved there.
