If, for example, Tux is scratching on the furniture, all I need to do is shout his name in a very short, punched way[1] while also reaching for the spray bottle...he *KNOWS* what's coming next if he doesn't stop. And just to add a humorous picture in your mind.... When I do this, Spooky, who is usually snoozing in a spot that puts him in the line of fire (might get that bit of water that falls short), and gets up and steps out of the way.... Without reaching for the spray bottle, neither cat reacts...Tux goes on scratching, Spooky goes on snoozing. If Spooky is the one misbehaving, Spooky stops after I reach for the spray bottle, and Tux leaps in from whatever spot he was in, spreads out, lands directly on Spooky, and knocks him right over. Except for the other day...Tux was laying on his back about 4 feet away, so he pushed off of the furniture with his legs, slid ON HIS BACK across the 4 feet, in a tiny fraction of a second, and pummelled Spooky (still on his back). I have yet to manage to get a video record of any of this, or Tux's other acrobatics, e.g., he'll step toward something he wants to attack, then do a forward roll---now on his back and facing the direction he just came from, and attack that way. I've also seen him start with that move, then once he was on his back, slide across the same 4 feet or so as above to attack Spooky. But if I get any camera out, or if anyone else enters the room, he'll stop and give that, "what, ME? I'M not doing anything!" kind of look. :-) Later, --jim [1] Think of a musical note with what my old high school jazz band director referred to as a "rooftop" accent (^)...not just stacatto, but also punched really hard from the diaphragm (you did want that hernia, right?) and chopped really short with the tongue. -- 73 DE N5IAL (/4) MiSTie #49997 < Running FreeBSD 7.0 > spooky130u@gmail.com ICBM/Hurr.: 30.39735N 86.60439W Seen in alt.sysadmin.recovery: "Priceless; that's better than telling him to use the Read Manual command with the Real Fast option."
