I got this recipe off another list and had to try it. I used commercial chili powder but I added a bit of fatali powder I had on-hand too. Really was very spicy and just delicious. Mmmm...

Chili Popcorn
adapted from Sparkpeople.com

1 bag microwave popcorn, popped
1/2 tbsp Brummel & Brown Buttery Spread
1.25 tsp chili powder, pure preferred
1/4 tsp ground cumin
dash garlic powder
dash salt

Boil some water. Put it in a bowl. Put Brummel & Brown into a custard cup and put it in the bowl with the boiling water. With a spatula, stir the spread until melted.

Put popcorn into a large bowl. Drizzle Brummel & Brown over popcorn and mix to coat. In a small bowl, combine chili powder, cumin, garlic powder and salt. Mix well. Sprinkle over popcorn. Mix to coat well with the chili mixture.

Serve.

Risa's notes:

Original recipe did not call for salt. I found it needed it. Also, original calls for margarine.

If not using pure chili powder (meaning one type of chili, dried and powdered), then it might need a bit of extra heat. Depends on who is eating it of course. If you are a chile-head, add some Fatali or Habanero. If you are serving it to more wimpy folk, then use chipotle OR ancho.
