Nice article here: "Donut peach" refers to a peach variety that is very flattened and shaped just like a donut, with the peach pit occupying the center, and usually barely or no flesh on the top and bottom of that pit, at least of the varieties I've ever seen. Saturn is one variety of donut peach, but there are others, too. Both yellow- and white-fleshed named varieties of donut peaches exist. Year-to-year, even day-to-day, climatic and farming variations make the taste of this and all fruits change relative to others/before/etc., but a good donut peach can basically taste as good as most any other good peach. As I recall, though, that mostly exposed pit does make them prone to much shorter than average shelf life. --- Brent
