Hey Chile-heads, Gardening: Aside from peppers and other assorted veggies I plan on making an attempt at growing shallots from seed this coming season as opposed to starting them from sets. I've never done either so I'm more in the dark than usual. Not an unusual state of mind for me to be in, but then how else to learn? Anyone have any info they might want to share? I like shallots but the stupor markup wants more than I'm willing to pay and the Asian markets where I can get them on the cheap is 40 miles away. Stilll.... come to think about it... it might be worth the trip. Jose P.S. A good substitute for shallots are ramps and I await the spring so that I may dig up a few and maybe find some morels along the way.
