At the supermarket, finally grabbed some of the
chipotles out of the produce section, (golden brown,
dry but still flexible), 8 or so to experiment with
chipotle powder. Trundle up to the checkout...

Cashier: OK, I'm stumped, what are these?
Me: Chipotles.
Cashier: ???
Me: Hot peppers.
Cashier, consulting produce charge numbers: Is
             this them? (pointing to "Shishito")
Me: No, these are "chipotles", smoked jalapenos.
Cashier: Hmmmmm, Can you find them in here?
           (Hands me the booklet)
Me: They aren't listed here.
Cashier: Do you know how much they are?
Me: The sign on the bin says $5.99 a pound.
Cashier: I can't get the register to weigh them.
Me: They are probably too light for it to sense.

Cashier has the Customer Service Dept. weigh
them on the postage scale and give her a price.

Cashier: .11 pounds, for 66 cents.
Me: That sounds right.
Cashier: Have a nice day.
Me: ...sigh...

To her credit, she was pleasant and tried. At
least now maybe next time it won't be such an
ordeal.

Scott... Was that a reasonable price?... KCK
