As is being discussed, the right kind and height of fence is important.
Plus, a lot of people are reluctant to go the fortress route. Bambi
doesn't seem to be giving us a choice.

Some of us really hate dogs. I'm one of them. Some of us can't have
dogs, whether due to landlords or whatever, or even allergies.

Some towns restrict that quite rigorously, I'm thinking of getting a BB
gun against the squirrels and learning to shoot (and I hate guns, so you
can begin to imagine my annoyance with the squirrels at this point), but
I don't know if the guy next door who is one of the Town Animal Controllers
would allow me to do so. The guy on the other side of me may actually
live too close by for this to be wise or safe, and the other guy next door
and through a few acres of forest may have Town Bylaws that won't allow
me to hunt squirrels that close to another residence/place of business and
won't approve a licence for me to do it.
