	My first thought was: miniature electric fences.  Wouldn't hurt the
	dog, but get the point across to take it's business elsewhere.

	My next thought was:  ...no, that was for groundhogs.  And your 
	roommate would probably take a dim view of it.

	Then I thought:  Invisible fence.   The electronic kind that have a 
	collar on the dog which shocks (gently) if the dog crosses over 
	the buried "fence".  Usually used to keep dogs *in* the yard, but 
	should work in reverse.
