[CH] self-incompatibility with C. pubescens

Dear Chile-Heads,

I'm just converting from a CP (carnivorous plant) fan to a
pepper grower (well, not really converting, I try to do both).

All of a sudden I was infected by the pepper bug and while I
waited for a dozen of chile books to arrive (actually I'm a
plant book freak much more than a plant freak) I bought three
chile plants from a mail-order nursery without too much thinking
or extensive previous reading.

I bought:

Tabasco (C. frutescens)
"Siberian House Paprika" (C. annuum)
"Red Tree Chile" (C. pubescens 'Rojo')

Much fun with the former two, nice heat even if grown on my
windowsill in cold northern Germany. But after the latter
flowered like hell with no yield whatsoever I had to learn
about self-incompatibility in C. pubescens. Too bad!

I tried to find some info in one of the some 20 pepper books I
bought since then but all they state is "cross-pollinate with a
second plant of the same species". Now how "different" do they
have to be?

A) identical twins: suppose an asexual clone (cutting)
B) fraternal twins: suppose seedlings grown from two seeds
taken from the same parent pod
C) siblings : suppose seedlings grown from two seeds
taken from different pods of the same parent
D) strangers : suppose seedlings grown from two seeds
                    taken from genetically different parents

At which stage of difference would successful pollination take
place???

I'm just curious how likely it would be to get two plants from one
nursery which can cross-pollinate.

Or if B) is not "different" enough: how much sense does it make to
buy some seeds from a nursery which does not mix their seeds.

Best regards, Stefan.
