This was the method that Dave Anderson & I saw used in Jamaica. The chiles did not respond well to this although it could/was likely as much due to the poor soil. The constant damp state of the roots bred alot of problems and wilts. Water is an excellent highway for these various pathogens to travel about. IMHO I don't think they would respond well to this. -Jim C MWPH
