Thanks, Kay, for the information. They were blue
Mecanopsis, or so the package said. We only saw the seeds
once, or I would have brought home more. I had seen them
blooming, and had fallen in love.. 

If the package told me to remove the first blooms, I certainly
was headstrong leaving them on! 

We'll see what develops next summer....
