[gardeners] Lemon Tree

Hi everyone,
I'm a novice gardener who's having a great time learning and doing! Is
it just me, or is gardening THE most addictive passion on earth? I have
a question that I can't seem to find the answer to in any of my books,
so I thought I'd ask you all ...
I have a fairly well established lemon tree in my garden, but the
previous owners surrounded it with grass. I want to kill the grass and
cover the area with bark mulch, but I don't want to kill the lemon
tree. Any suggestions?
