In my search for diseases on the web, I came across the following
suggestion.
If you have blights this year, then next year
Start about 2 weeks after transplant, with a good fungicide, apply per
instructions for the whole season.
IE Daconil is every 7 to 10 days.

Fusarium likes a soil pH at 6.5 and lower
Verticillium likes a pH of 7.5 and higher.
Conculsion:
Keep soil pH between 6.5 and 7.0 and you can avoid these. Low cost,
non-toxic. Less than 1 hour per year for the average home gardener.
