[CH] Cat/plant followup

Thanks to everyone who sent in their opinions, advice etc. on what to do about my plant-nibbling cat. On Friday night, I decided I would take the chance of permanently psychologically scarring the moggy and pre-treat the plant. I mixed up about 1/2 tsp. habanero powder in about 1/2 cup water and applied this solution to the leaves of the plant- top, bottom, interior and exterior.

Well, Chou-Chou (the offending cat) didn't go near the plant for the rest of the night- I guess he didn't like the smell. By Saturday evening, however, he appeared to have forgotten about it. As I was sitting on the couch, he cautiously approached (he knows he's not supposed to chew on it, but assumes if he does it stealthily enough, I won't see him...) and CHOMPED on a leaf.

Five seconds later he was shaking his head, batting at his mouth with his front paws, and sticking his tongue out, completely bemused and not at all happy. When he recovered, he sniffed all around the plant, climbing up on a nearby chair to suss out the topmost leaves, and apparently didn't like what he found.

He hasn't been back to that plant since.
