Went out shopping today and found a wonderful place. I have been
looking for a place to buy chipotles in adobo but until now had to
rely on friends and relatives to send them to me. One chilehead sent
me some out of the goodness of their heart. I found two sources
online that would sell me them via mailorder. I mentioned this to a
few fellow students in my computer class this week and one person
mentioned that they had recently eaten at a "real" Mexican place here
in Allentown,PA. I asked her more about the place and she told me
that it was a small place that served food and sold Mexican groceries
too. She gave me the location and the wife and I headed there today
for lunch.

We were amazed. La Placita Mexico was not big but held everything I
wanted. The owners a Mexican and many of their customers are too.
We did not realize that Allentown had a small Mexican community.
Now for the food. We bought Herdez Salsa Verda for $1.75, La Morena
Chipotles in Adobo/ $1.75, La Morena homestyle Chipolte Sauce/$1.29,
a Mexican Hot Sauce for $1.25, La Sierra Refried Beans w/Chipotles
for $1.99 and fresh blue corn tortillas for $1.15 per 2lb bag. We
couldn't believe it. They had many types of dried peppers (prices
around $6.50/lb) other specialty canned goods along with fresh
tomatillos and chorizo.

We ordered tacos to go and had some of the best tacos that I have
ever eaten. All were on fresh corn tortillas, had lots of meat
(beef, pork, chicken or chorizo), topped with green onions and
cilantro. They supplied a side of salsa verde to apply liberally when
we got home. We can't wait to go back for more. We only ordered tacos
because we couldn't understand the menu. They helped us with some of
it so we can order next trip.

All in all it was a great day.
