In my weekly shopping trip through our local supermarket (Wegman's in =
Rochester), I was going by the cheese section when a word on a wrapper =
caught my eye. Closer examination revealed that the word that caught my =
eye was indeed "Habanero" as in "Habanero Cheese". Well, well, well, =
thinks I. Chileheadedness has certainly sprung to the mainstream when =
such cheeses are to be found!
My delight was tempered though, when I examined the cheese bricks a bit =
more closely. the cheese was flecked with both red and GREEN flecks. =
Hmmm.... What doth that mean? I ask myself.
I checked the ingredient list. Guess what it says? It says red and GREEN =
habaneros are in the cheese. Now, I am not that knowledgeable about this =
stuff, but is there such a thing as a green habanero?
(Aside from the obvious non-ripe version)
(I suspect they had some other chiles in there, but I put the cheese =
down and walked away in a huff)
