Byron - What horsepower is this engine? I don't have my Briggs reference
manual at hand. 5 hp is the minimum I would recommend for a Merry.
Optimally I would use an I/C class engine. This has a steel sleeve in the
piston. It wears much better. I actually prefer Honda engines on most of
my rental equipment, but since tillers, even at a rental store, are highly
seasonal, the Briggs I/C lasts just fine. Advice to all gardners - Change
the oil in your engines before doing any serious work for spring. Run the
engine for 10-15 minutes prior to changing oil. Then, throughout the
season, change oil at 12-15 hours of operation. Clean the air filter EVERY
TIME you change the oil.
