As winter grinds on on the Great Plains of the U.S., and talk of
eradicating pests both large (deer) and small (aphids), I have a
question about a possible control for squirrels. During winter these
beasts are fairly easy to reel in, a little bird seed and or corn and
they are right at your door. The problem is in the spring and summer
when the plants in the garden (chile and others) grow green, the tree
rat digs, rips and murtilates my, and our, beloved El Grande. The
questionable control is DeCon. This is rat/mouse poison. It contains
Warfarin or Coumadin, which prevents clotting of the blood and silica or
glass which cuts the insides causing bleeding. Will this work on
squirrles? I know they will eat it but will it, ah, you know, take care
of them.
