Having just returned from Florida to Indiana (and pretty sad about it),
here some hot spots I visited in St. Pete:

Peppers on the Pier--a hot sauce shop in a big tourist location. Pricey,
but nice folks. I was thrilled to find purple chile pepper lights to add
to the collection to go on my husband's steam car.

I ate at: Red Mesa, 4912 4th St. N.
Excellent salsa, and the poor waiter hopped back and forth bringing me
little dishes of fresh chiles from the kitchen. There were no vegetarian
entrees to speak of but the chef happily prepared something for my friend
and I. A little pricey---maybe I've just been in Indiana too long.

Saffron's
1700 Park St. N.
Caribbean food: very much on the MILD side. This poor waiter had his work
cut out for him as I wanted to try all their sauces. The jerk sauce was
MILD MILD MILD. I passed, my friend loved it. My request for scotch
bonnets drew a blank but he eventually brought me some fruity pepper mix
that was very tasty. My dinner was very good although too MILD. Prices
were
good and I had one of the best drinks I've ever had in a restaurant. The
service was very good too.

I went to these two restaurants since they are involved with the Fiery
Foods show. I'd certainly recommend them both.
