Doug, 
Things could be worse - here in the UK unleaded is now around 
the equivalent of US$1.20
per litre :-{ 

On the plus side it is warm and sunny (unusual for Easter in England!)
and chile seedlings are growing well in the greenhouse - all from seed
2-3 years old.
