With respect to coronary arteries (and I should know), there is a wide difference
between the two. In approximate order from best (helpful) to shear white death:
poly unsaturated oil helpful safflower, some other seed & nut
mono saturated neutral peanut, olive
Sesame seed oil is a mix that is mostly on the good side.
saturated oil
bacon grease
butter
=== death below: "hydrogenated" ========
many snack foods
most margarines
Crisco & other solid shortenings
And Scott, you are quite correct:
Anything with "hydrogenated" as significant ingredient is particularly bad.
Mark, this is not just "this years Bad Guy", it has been known for at least 15
years.
As this is somewhat off topic, anyone who is seriously interested in the whys and
wherefores reply to me, and I'll get back.
Andy.
