I also had this problem, I took a bottle of our sauce and poured a little
around the outer perimeter of the raised bed on top of the wood and they
never came back... but now Ive expanded my raised bed and am waiting to see
how it will get handled this year.

We have alot of rabbits in our trailer park (and skunks too) and I had to
plant marigolds all the way around them to help keep them at bay ( I heard
that rabbits cannot stand the odor or taste of marigolds), my peppers have
been out for almost a week now and they seem very healthy - although the
damn flee beatles already attacked my tomatillos , but a squirt of
crasathomum (spell?) juice made then run for the hills..hehe :-)
