My genuine black market African Devil chiles, direct from South Africa (thanks again Peter!) more closely resemble the smaller ones you described. They grow upright, are about 1.25" long, conical, fiery red from green, and maybe 3/8" wide. Large pretty plant that closely resembles a hab in growing habit (large slightly heart shaped leaves, multi branching). Hope this helps! -Jim Campbell MWPH
