It is possible to extend the season a little by covering plants with a
plastic sheet at night when frost is predicted. Also you can run a drop
cord out and under the plants with a 60-100 watt bulb for some heat. Don't
let the light get to close and burn plants. You need to remove sheeting at
first light. This method can be a lot of work. So judge how far away the
fruit is from maturing. It may not be worth the effort if the fruit has a
long way to go. If a hard freeze or frost with heavy wind is predicted, I
dig up and transplant a few to pots for over wintering. The rest, after
digging and shaking off soil from roots, I hang upside down in a cool to
warm place. Many, but not all, immature fruit will ripen this way. Some I
leave to dry, others use fresh or freeze.

To those who tried Calvin's power and thought the heat factor was low like
I did; Send me a SESE (size#10) and get a little sample of my power. I
think it has a richer, fuller flavor and definitely a lot more heat. It is
made from a combination of hickory smoked habs, pulla, piquin, manzano plus
a few herbs. I'm not knocking Calvin or his product. I tried it and found
it rather good but not much heat. I would need to use a lot of his to get
the effect I'm use to.
