WASHINGTON (Reuters) - A Louisiana sausage company is recalling 500,000
pounds of Cajun meat mixture after 62 people became sick with salmonella
from eating the food at a wedding reception, the Agriculture Department
said Tuesday. Nine of the guests had to be admitted to the hospital for
fever and diarrhea after the Aug. 15 wedding in Louisiana, the
department said. Savoie's Sausage and Food Products, Inc., of Opelousas,
La., is asking customers to return its "Real Cajun! Savoie's Dressing
Mix" that was distributed in nine states: Arkansas, Florida, Georgia,
Idaho, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas.
