Hi all,
just got given some really nice Thai Chile Paste with Holy
Basil Leaves.
Ingredients are Soy bean oil, Chilli,Holy basil leaves, garlic, salt.
Near as I can make out its Por Kwan brand, made by the NR Instant
Produce Company. Imported into Australia by Wang Tui Trading Co 3
Cordelia Cres Green Valley NSW 2188. The donor got it at a store called
Burlington ??? and paid AUS $1.70, = USD $1.00 for an 8 oz/225 g jar..
Its meant for frying with meat or seafood but I have to admit i like it
by the spoonful..
It could probably be less salty and oily but like I told Brer Rael some
time ago I don't have any Cholesterol or Blood pressure problems so it
doesn't bother me..

Luke in Oz
p.s made some nice Malay fish balls, .
put fish in moarter and mashed it with 1ts salt 2tsp oil in halfcup
water,
dribbled in bit by bit then added 2-3 tsp cornflour and b/pepper,
chives,
and finely sliced chiles, made mixture into small balls , dropped into
salted
water[cold] for 5 min then put into boiling water till they rose- 1-2
minutes .. nice..
served them to myself with arborio rice, with an egg yolk mixed with hot
Chile Paste stirred in.
Will post full recipe when time permits..
