   Many thanks to all who participated in the 4th (almost)
Annual Midwest Hotluck. Due credit must be given the great
folks who provided sauces, powders and marinades:

Jim Campbell from Mild to Wild Pepper and Herb Co.
http://www.wildpepper.com ;
Calvin and his legendary powder;
The good folks at d'Oni Enterprises http://www.d-oni.com .

Also a big thank you to BigTom for rushing out the ChileHead
poster on such short notice. It looked magnificent in its frame
hanging above the tables of food. Yes, it took three tables to
hold all the food brought by the attendees. My dining room
table (with both leaves), a neighbor's kitchen table and a card
table were filled to capacity with:

Black bean, hab-mango and assorted other salsas; hab cheddar
and jalapeno red pepper cheeses; hot wings, hot pickles bbq beans
and spicy ribs; pepper potato sausage casserole (provided by Mike
Pierce, in absentia); spicy spaghetti what-was-it-called-again-John?;
Thai chicken sausage shish-kabob over rice and chorizo? sausage
with pickled cactus over rice from Long-Distance Travel award winner
Renee Watson, all the way from Minnesota; chipotle cream cheese
and stuffed shrimp (habs and cream cheese stuffed into butterflied
shrimp, wrapped in thin-sliced round steak and grilled, oh man!) from
my neighbors; Jamaican jerk shrimp with chipotle cocktail sauce;
to cool down, seafood salad and the wonderful Mother in Law's
Tongue (eggplant, tomato, garlic, sour cream and garlic) sand-
wiches from Scott #2 (aka the "thin" Scott); assorted chips,
crackers and the aforementioned sauces and powder; all washed
down with Michelle's sangria, Rolling Rock, hab Ouzo and hab vodka
(from the pair of Scotts) and a special ale hand-imported from
Minnesota by Renee. Yes, it was a feast. Luckily for me, to the
hotluck host go the spoils.

The chile pepper banner hanging from the front porch was provided
by my mother-in-law, noted fiber artist Janet Kuemmerlein. A big
thank you to her as well.

Once again, thanks to all who attended, provided or thought good
thoughts. And especially to whoever invented central AC.
